GERSTEL Olfactory Detector Port ODP 2

The ODP allows the sensing of compounds by a human nose as they elute from a gas chromatograph. The effluent is split as it leaves the column so that it arrives simultaneously at the nose and at a detector(atmospheric or MSD). This allows additional information on compounds that are responsible for specific odors.

The ODP 2 is compatible with most GC’s but when coupled to an Agilent 6890 GC has the following features:

  • Heated Transfer Line is controlled by Agilent 6890 Heated zone eg Auxillary or Detector and requires no external heater controller
  • All fittings for succesfull installation in 6890 are supplied
  • Flexible Transfer line can be adjusted to comfortable position to allow operator to concentrate on olfactory sensing. Uses switchable integrated humdifier
  • Compatible with ODP recorder Software for integration into GC or GCMSD Chemstation for single system operation.

Parallel Detection

Is supplied with the ODP to allow simultaneous operation of the ODP 2 with all commercially available GC detectors including Mass Spectrometers. A maximum of two additional detectors can be utilised.

ODP Calc Software

ODP Calc Software is supplied with the Parallel Detection kit to simplify calculation of suitable capillary lengths for split ratios between detectors. Can be set for varying capillary ID’s, Column flows, headpressures and column oven temperatures.

ODP Recorder consists of:

ODP Recorder Software

The GERSTEL ODP Recorder Software is completely integrated into the Agilent GC or MSD Chemstation. It permits identification of components by superimposing the Olfactogram with the GC or MS Chromatogram.

GERSTEL Olfactory Pad (OP)

The GERSTEL Olfactory Pad allows manual input of signals in 4 levels of intensity depending on odour detection. The signals are saved in the format of the chromatogram together with the GC chromatogram. The OP is connected via a USB port. No AD Transformer Card or Analogue Input Card is necessary for the GC.

Voice Recording

When the OP is pressed, spoken comments can also be input to correlate with the Olfactogram. These spoken comments can then be converted by the PC into text using Voice Recognition Software. These comments can then appear automatically as a description of the peaks in the Olfactogram. These comments with Olfactogram are then superimposed with the GC or MS Total Ion Chromatogram for identification.

In Australia and New Zealand the ODP 2 is supplied complete with ODP2, Parallel Detection, ODP Recorder and suitable fittings for Agilent 6890 installation.
